Pre-Teen Camp 2012 was... WOW
Isn't it neat how God takes the normal, everyday stuff and mixes it together with someone else's normal, everyday stuff and makes something superfantabulous out of it?
Pre-Teen Camp (directed by Julia Timson and Crystal Raines) was the best camp I have ever participated in to date. It was well-run and well-thought out and all that, but BEST OF ALL, the kids were HUNGRY for God and READY to receive from Him. He showed up in full force! I have never seen so many kids who longed to know Him. The beauty of this whole thing is that many of the campers were un-churched! I saw children saved and speaking in tongues. I had one young lady come to me and tell me that God has already called her to be a worship leader. You talk about giving the Lord some praise!!! I nearly shouted.
I had a lot of fun with the kids but I was also very firm. When I was a kid, we were not allowed to act however we wanted in the house of the Lord. We had to maintain a level of respect for God's house and God's people. I expected the same from that group of campers. I tried to be as gentle as I could but firmly explained to them that I had no problem calling them out for misbehaving in the chapel. The services are the times when most campers "get down to business" with Jesus. So many had a heart experience! I am SO glad that I was able to be part of it. I also taught the kids a couple of dances and that was just crazy fun! All of the kids called me Ms. G or Ms. Glynis because that is what I expected of them and I explained that to them the first time I addressed them. That goes to show something... if they know your expectation and it's reasonable and right, they CAN rise to the occasion and do the right thing. We just have to tell them what that right thing is! So many of them don't have a clue. We just expect them to know "it" when we have not educated them on what "it" is. There is nothing right about that. We should not hold our children accountable when we have failed to teach them. WE are accountable!
Anyway, I look forward to what God has in the future for these wonderful kids. Much love to all of them and let's remember to cover them in prayers DAILY!
