Christmas is CRAZY!
This season is crazy, stressful and
completely insane. Have you knocked over any little old ladies trying
to get that new sweater for 25% off? Have you lost your wallet in the
frenzy of purchasing stocking stuffers? Do you remember where you left
your shopping list? Are you screaming "MY LIFE IS INSANE!" at the top
of your lungs?
In the frantic
"stuff" that happens at Christmas time, I'd like to encourage you to
take a moment to relax, sit down with your family and watch a good old
Christmas movie like "Miracle on 34th Street" or one of the newer
classics like "Home Alone". No, I'm not advocating violence. What I'm
advocating is time with the ones you love in an atmosphere that nurtures
caring and laughter and reminds you of what life SHOULD be like.
There is much to be said for love and
giving without qualification or condition. God showed His love
for us by sending His only Son, Jesus, to show us how to love and live
not by instruction, but by example. The least we can do during the
season where we celebrate His birth is to show love to our families, our
friends and to others.
Give a gift to Toys for Tots. Go Christmas caroling at a nursing home. Send
a needy person in your church or at the grocery store an anonymous
gift. Spend a day in the food kitchen feeding the homeless. These
things never go out of style and they teach us that life for us is
really not so bad after all.
When you find yourself
in the middle of a little ripping-your-hair-out-by-the-undyed-roots
stress this season, sit down, relax and enjoy some family time or give a
gift. You won't regret it and your family, friends or stranger will
remember it forever.
Blessings this season and all year long,
:::G:::
